We work hard to provide comprehensive medical care and serve as your medical care home. To that end, we request that you contact our office FIRST before seeking specialty care, or heading to Urgent Care.
We make every effort to meet the needs of our patients; we guarantee same-day sick appointments within one of our 5 clinics. Weekend hours are available for same-day sick appointments only, and are offered in our Newport Beach location.
Medicine
Our vaccine policy follows the schedule outlined by the CDC and the American Academy of Pediatrics. We work closely with our families to provide a safe and effective vaccine policy. Check out our Immunization Schedule.
It is of the utmost importance to us, to not overuse antibiotics. We educate families on the appropriate use of antibiotics, but follow evidence-based guidelines and don’t automatically treat slight ear pain or a stuffy nose with antibiotics. We do not routinely call in antibiotics over the phone as we do not believe that is good practice. When we believe antibiotics are an appropriate treatment, we will be happy to prescribe them and answer any questions you may have.
Our practice prides itself on efficiency through the use of technology. We are currently working on implementing a patient portal for added convenience.
As your child’s care home, we request that you contact our office to discuss care plans before scheduling an appointment with a specialist. We want to be involved in either providing the care in our office where appropriate, or referring you to the most appropriate specialist and helping coordinate your care. Whenever you do see a specialist, we ask that you request a report be sent directly to our office so we can coordinate all of your care.
Our Patients
Please make sure we take your specific insurance plan. If you have any questions, call our office and/or check with your specific insurance company.
It is up to you to understand how your insurance works, including deductibles and coinsurance, as well as providing up-to-date insurance information at every visit. Although we may not be able to answer all insurance inquiries, you may contact our office if you have specific questions.
We do not have walk-in hours. Please call our office to make an appointment and tell the nursing staff all of your concerns so that they can plan for the appropriate length of time.
Our practice makes every effort to run on time with appointments, as we believe everyone’s time is equally valuable. We ask that you make every effort to present to the office at your scheduled appointment time and call us if you are running behind. We reserve the right to ask you to reschedule if you have missed your scheduled appointment time.
Coastal Kids goes out of their way to make you feel part of the family rather than just another patient. The staff and physicians take the time to genuinely remember your name and who you are while engaging in conversations that prove that they actually care. The brand new facility is modern, bright, efficient and always clean which instills confidence and makes every visit a positive experience! My wife and I wish we had “Coastal Kids” when we were growing up! You have changed the “going to the doctor” experience forever and for that we are forever grateful!
We are so blessed to have found Coastal Kids. Since moving from LV we have been trying to find the right fit for our family. I happened to google ‘pediatricians in Ladera’ and decided I would choose from the most helpful staff. After calling I think everyone, Coastal Kids was the last office and let me tell you they were amazing. My family was greeted warmly and with enthusiasm. Clearly, they were busy but not once did we ever feel like they didn’t have time for us. They even entertained my crazy kids which is huge…this office rocks it!!

These are some of the BEST pediatricians in Orange County. I have seen most of the doctors in the office and have always been pleased with the care I have received. The practice also offers a Lactation Consultant, Danielle Gauss, who sees patients in the office and also does house calls. Let me just say this, she changed mine and my newborn’s life. She is sooooo great at what she does. Danielle is EXTREMELY knowledgeable, ALWAYS available, even when you don’t have a scheduled appointment with her, and SUPER friendly. I would have given up on breastfeeding had it not been for her! She makes Coastal Kids that much more of an amazing practice!
We have been taking our son to Dr. Amy Cox for over 2 years and now also our 4-month old daughter. She always takes the time to answer all of our questions and if I ever call in to the nurse line I always get a call back within an hour or two. The front desk staff are great as well. Their office is very clean and my son never complains about going to the doctor! Would highly recommend Coastal Kids and all their doctors.
