Dr. Dennis S. Phillips, M.D. FAAP
Dr. Dennis S. Phillips, M.D. FAAP, earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from Stanford University, California. He completed medical school at the University of Southern California School of Medicine in 1975, and successfully completed his residency at UCLA Harbor General Hospital in 1978. During his training, Dr. Phillips was appointed to the Department of Pediatrics executive committee from 1975-1978 and served as chief administrative resident from 1977-1978.
Dr. Phillips served as chief of the Department of Pediatrics at La Habra Community Hospital from 1979-1981. He has been a diplomat of the American Board of Pediatrics since 1979 and a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics since 1980. He has been in private practice since 1978 and has authored over 50 papers/articles on pediatric healthcare and medicine, primary children’s healthcare, preventive care, and newborn growth and development.
Dr. Phillips was recently presented with a “Patient and Peer Satisfaction Award” by one of Orange County’s top medical groups, Monarch Healthcare, and was featured on Orange County Family Radio, discussing the topic “Keeping Kids Healthy during the Holidays.”
Dr. Phillips joined Coastal Kids in 2014. His philosophy of care is “I love the kids in my practice. I encourage them (and their parents!) to be the BEST that they can be.” Dr. Phillips enjoys boxing in his spare time. He has been awarded the “Laguna Hills Little League Umpire of the Year.” He is a father of seven and resides with his wife and family in Laguna Beach.

My kids say if there is a 6-star review they would give it to Dr. Phillips of Coastal Kids! We’ve been seeing Dr. Phillips for 16 years now, and my 3 boys love him so much that even after moving to San Diego, we still have him as our Pediatrician (and brave the Interstate-5). He is kind, compassionate, very knowledgeable and most of all funny – my kids are completely comfortable with him. We always tell him to please not retire until our youngest becomes an adult! Please!!!
We have been with Coastal Kids for over 12 years. My daughter Sarai has been under the care of Dr .Phillips this 12 years and now my 2 year old son is also under his care. I would like to say what a wonderful and caring doctor he is but most of all what an amazing person he is. We live about 30 min from the Laguna Hills office, but the drive is well worth it.
