Kat Kohler joined the Coastal Kids – Southwest, formerly Southwest Pediatrics, family July of 2017 as a certified Family Nurse Practitioner. She has been in the medical field for 15 years; starting out as a Nurse Extern at Bakersfield Memorial Hospital and worked there for over 13 years in the Labor and Delivery unit where she was able to advance to being their Charge Nurse. Before nursing school Kat was a teacher for pre-school where her experiences with young children attributed her wonderful ability to interact & communicate with children effectively.

Kat received her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Holy Names University in Oakland, Ca resulting in her becoming a Registered Nurse in 2007 and from there; she completed her Masters of Science in Nursing from Indiana State University May of 2017. Kat then became board certified with the America Academy of Nurse Practitioners as a Family Nurse Practitioner.

Her past experiences in the Labor & Delivery unit at BMH and working as a Nurse Practitioner at a local OB/GYN has made her a “go-to-guru” for young adolescent female patients since she is able to address unique concerns of young woman in a way that is easy and comfortable for the patients.

Kat is a caring mother of 2 charismatic boys. She spends her time away from the practice taking her boys to acting auditions or being the Vice President of the Parent Support Group for their school. Kat is a very energetic individual who is passionate about sharing love with all her friends and family and her main goal is to treat her patients and their families with the same care as she would treat her own.
