Jiyeon Kim, MD, FAAP, is a board-certified Pediatrician and Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Dr. Kim received her medical degree from Ewha Women’s University in Seoul, Korea. She graduated from her residency in pediatrics at the University of Illinois, College of Medicine at Peoria in 2010, and completed an additional year as Chief Resident of Pediatrics.
Dr. Kim joined Coastal Kids in 2016. In the past, she served as the Assistant Professor of Clinical Pediatrics at the University of Illinois at Peoria, where she practiced general pediatrics and was also involved in resident education as the Associate Program Director of the Pediatric Residency Program. She was involved in numerous advocacy projects within the community as well as scholarly activities where she mentored pediatric residents in research. She also practiced in Fairfax, VA as a general pediatrician before moving to Southern California. She is fluent in Korean.
Dr. Kim has a special interest in oral health in children, preventive care, and childhood obesity, but most of all she enjoys developing close relationships with her patients and their families through the continuity of care she is able to provide as a general pediatrician. She is fluent in both English and Korean.
